Modern DHEA

DHEA(Dehydroepiandrosterone), as C-19 steroid hormone, fall under the category of a group of androgens. The zona reticularis of the adrenal glands yields about 80% of DHEA, with the rest created by the ovaries, testes and brain. DHEA acts as a precursor in estrogen and testosterone synthesis. In a case control study ,190 women with Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR) were divided into DHEA supplemented group and control group, women who received DHEA supplementation had more than double the pregnancy rates of women without DHEA (28.4%, compared to 11.9%) Supplementation with DHEA may achieve favourable public health consequences by potentially reducing aneuploidy and spontaneous pregnancy losses in a general population.
